Palm Vendors
On this page I will attempt to list the various OEMs of PalmOS devices, as well as some websites both locally and international where you can buy accessories for your Palm.
PalmOS Devices Manufacturers
| Where else to begin, but right at the beginning? Yes, Palm Inc, the original fellas who made the devices commonly referred to as a "PalmPilot". These are the guys who started a whole new industry. | |
| Handspring is an off-shoot of Palm Inc. The 2 original founders of Palm Inc left, and started their own company, making the devices they are best at - PDAs. As a licensee of the PalmOS, Handspring devices are almost 100% compatible to Palms. The good thing is that Handspring recognises some shortcomings of the original Palms, and have included some upgraded apps with their units, such as Datebook+, and improved version of Datebook, licensed from Pimlico Software (makers of Datebk3 and Datebk4). | |

These guys used to be known as "TRGPro", and the improved Palm III unit they sold was known as the "TRGPro". Yeah I know, it's not very original is it? At the time (circa 1998), it was a marked improvement over Palm's own offering, having 8MB RAM on board and an industry-standard Compact Flash slot so that you can stick additional CF cards in, such as IBM's 340MB micro harddisk, memory modules etc. Now they have a new model, the Handera 330, which has some unique and interesting features (plus the much needed boost to the pathetic alarm beeps of the original Palms). |

| Nowadays, even the big boys, such as Sony, has decided to get in on the PDA act. Their PDA is called the Sony Clie. It's a very sleek PDA that comes with their own proprietry memory technology, the Memory Stick® technology. So, not only do you get a full blown 8MB RAM with the device, you can buy extra memory at 32MB, 64MB and even 128MB denominations in the form of extra Sony Memory Sticks! Now you can store that favourite Bible or Thesaurus on your PDA without sacrificing memory! |
Remember this list is by no means exhaustive. There have been rumours that a few mobile phone manufacturers have signed up with Palm for the PalmOS, so you can soon expect Nokia etc phone to have Palm functions built-in (like the Communicator 9210).
